Inequalities

We know that people in the Borough are living longer, but people still generally live 2 years less than the rest of England and Wales, and that within the Borough, people in the most deprived areas can live 10 years less than those in the more affluent areas. We know the main reasons for these earlier deaths in our Borough are cardio-vascular disease (CVD), respiratory (lung) disease and cancers, with infant mortality, poor mental health, and alcoholic liver disease also making a contribution. Since then, work has been undertaken on an integrated programme to reduce health inequalities which has resulted in an Inequalities Strategy and Action Plan for the Borough.

Please see below for the datasets, profiles and resources related to our work with stakeholders.
