Population Demographics

The population in Rochdale is 212,020, with 108,145 females and 103,875 males (ONS mid-2012 population estimates). This represents an increase of over 3% since 2001. The 15-29 and 45-64 age groups have seen the largest percentage increases in population, while the number of over 65 year olds in the borough have also increased (ONS Census 2011).

Our JSNA process involved analysis of data using MOSAIC - a product which segments the local population according to socio-economic groupings. This is explained in more detail in the JSNA Executive Summary. The analysis told us that the largest proportion of Rochdale Borough residents are currently Getting By - 28%. However, 26% are considered to be Better Off.
